Fake Cameras, False Hopes!

If your thinking about installing fake cameras in your home, business or anywhere really then please stop for a moment and take 5 minutes to read this information. It could stop you wasting your money!

Security measures are pretty much mandatory in the world we live in now, and we couldn't really get by without them. As anyone can see, the nation's crime rate is consistently on the rise, and despite all the government plans and promises I doubt it will ever diminish. As long as humans exist, there will be criminals. This means that we are all on our own to a point. Although cops and law enforcement officers strive to do their best, there is no way they can be everywhere at once. So what can you do about this? Well, your priority should be to take care of you and your own. This can include your family, your property and your business if you have one. And of course one of the best ways to protect your belongings now days is with security cameras. If the worst should happen and something is stolen or vandalised, at least you have the gits on camera. But what about those who take the short-cut route and buy fake cameras? Is this really a wise decision?

I've seen loads of fake cameras. I worked at a video store chain for years and they used dummy cameras on the ceiling. Not the best move for a store if you ask me. First of all, we sill had plenty of theft going on. I'm talking customers and employees here. Random customers were stealing DVDs and video games all the time. Obviously our display of fake cameras didn't catch any of them. I guess it doesn't take long for the criminal to work out that the cameras are fake.

Then there were the few annoying employees. I can honestly say that I know who they are now. Two males were stealing plenty of new video games before they even went out. They knew that they couldn't be caught on camera, so they took things as they pleased. That's really frustrating for the honest person! So, in the end I went to our district manager and asked him to remove the fake cameras from the ceiling. It was clear that everyone was well aware they were fake. Unfortunately he didn't listen. He claimed that real surveillance cameras would cost too much to buy and have installed. This made no sense since we were clearly losing expensive products on a regular basis, and had we been able to stop this, the genuine security cameras would pay for themselves very quickly.

Seriously, Don't take the cheap route with fake cameras! If you own your own business and want to keep a watchful eye on things, get a real surveillance set-up. They aren't as pricey as you might think, and they're well worth the money in the end. Just think, if you ever get robbed, you'll be glad you have one, and not some fake cameras that do nothing.

I guess there may be a few exceptions where you want to install fake cameras or, 'dummy cameras' but think carefully as they won't help you should the worst happen.
